Tensions rise, secrets grow bigger, and passions run deeperand hotterin Last Light, the second novel of the Night Owl Trilogy from bestselling author M. Pierce.

Matt Sky is missing. After a solo ascent of Longs Peak that left only a large blood stain, tatters of climbing clothing, and the tracks of an animal in the snow, he is presumed dead.

Hannah Catalano is guarding a secret: she knows Matt is alive. After Matt's memorial service, she lingers on the East Coast with his family, but it soon becomes clear that his brothers' motives are less than gracious. Nate Sky is bent on tracking down the author of Night Owl, a book that charts the last days of Matt's life with uncanny and scandalous accuracy, and which appeared only after his death. Seth Sky is bent on getting Hannah into his bed.

Hidden away in the woods, Matt and Hannah strive desperately to maintain their ruse and their relationship
but their web of lies only tightens as Matt struggles with the consequences of his decision, and Hannah tries to escape Nate's libel suit and fend off Seth's advances...until Hannah is put in danger, and Matt must make a life or death choice.

Happiness is useless to me. - Matt Sky

Excerpt

Matt insisted on carrying me to the bathroom. I hugged his neck.
“Matt, you realize I can walk with a black eye, right?”
“I’ll be the judge of that.” He set me on the counter and I squeaked; the marble was frigid under my bare bottom. He dropped one of my bath bombs in the tub and watched it fizz and color the water purple.
Once, I managed to convince Matt to use a bath bomb with me. It was called a “sex bomb” and it was supposed to “put us in the mood” with “exciting scents” and “natural pheromones.” I grinned at the memory. As soon as Matt realized the bomb was coating his skin in sparkles, he leapt out of the tub ranting about “looking Twilighty” and “smelling like a girl.”
            “What’re you grinning at?”
“You.” I smiled. “And this bath, which is such a transparent effort to avoid saying goodbye. Sweet… but transparent.”
Matt frowned and paced the small space of the bathroom. Ha! I was right. Matt planned to leave me in the tub and slip away.
My poor, adorable night owl—he really had issues with goodbyes.
            “No,” he mumbled. “Maybe…”
“Can I induce you to stay a little longer?” I uncrossed my legs deliberately and spread them. Matt watched. He folded his arms and tilted his head.
            “How does your cheek feel?”
            “They’re cold.” I grinned.
“And you say I’m bad.” He slid me off the sink and turned me. I watched our reflection through the patchy steam on the mirror. Matt—God, he was so tall, and the look on his face was arresting. He wanted me. I knew that look.

Night Owl ended with this weird epilogue that led us to believe that Matt was dead - or rather, will be dead in Book #2.

So that's how Last Light starts....with the following line:

December is the cruelest month to die in.

But of course we already know from reading the blurb that Matt is not really dead - he just pretends to be.
He hated how his name became public knowledge in Night Owl and since he thinks he won't be able to write and live a happy life anymore, he came up with the idea to disappear forever.

But of course it only sounds smart and romantic in his head. Living with Hannah in a secluded place somewhere in the world....
Hannah doesn't want to leave her family and her dream job, but she agrees to help him with his weird plan... He will die and hide in a cabin in the mountains...
And Hannah will have to deal with the media, his agent Pam, and his family. Especially his brothers.
Nate and Seth.

Then, a few days after Matt's death a book appears online - a very explicit book that tells the story of Matt and Hannah.
But who could've written that?? Matt is dead - Hannah says it wasn't her...
Who else could it be? Who was close enough to the couple to know all those intimate details?
☺☺☺☺
The readers knows who this person is - but brother Nate doesn't - and he won't stop until he sued the hell out of whatever idiot dares to disrespect his little brother in such a way!

Then Hannah is confronted with Matt's other brother....Seth....

There will be many lies and secrets ....
and with Matt and Hannah not living together....can their relationship survive everything that happened and everything that is coming their way???

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN WiTH HANNAH & MATT???
WiLL THE SECRETS & LiES DESTROY EVERYTHiNG???

WiLL THERE BE A HEA???
WiLL THERE BE A HORRiBLE CLiFFHANGER???

Nope - I'm not telling you

Ok - I can tell you that there won't be a horrible cliffhanging Cliffhanger, nobody will literally hang off or fall off a Cliff this time - but... we still HAVE to read Book #3 ASAP!

I REALLY LOoOVED THE BOOK!

When I saw this ARC on my Kindle I was sooo shocked - I had totally forgotten about requesting it and I still hadn't read the first book (because of my #Bookalzheimer I always try to read connected books once they're all out) - but now I couldn't wait another second longer - I had to read it!
And after I finished Night Owl - I was completely hooked!!

Ugh!!

This series is soo amazing!
So different from other books out there.

Matt is such an ass - such a total Anti-Hero really, but we totally love his assholery!!
...... he's sooo adorable and hot and sexy and dominant and cute and did I mention adorable? With his cute little pet rabbit?? oyy

I'm not sure which book I loved more - Night Owl or Last Light...
They were both intensely captivating but at the same time amazingly different ....

Once Matt's other brother Seth appeared in the story, I was a bit torn - because as everybody knows, I have a huge thing for RockStars - but he fortunately inherited a bit of the Sky-family-Assholery ☺
Well - but - Matt's assholery doesn't stop us from loving him... so ... I was not sure about Seth and where the story will go with him in the beginning ;)

As I was reading the first 10-30% I noticed I started reading steadily slower and slower - I didn't want to get to the end - I was pretty sure there would be some kind of horrible Cliffhanger...
But of course I had to give up the slow-reading at some point - you just HAVE to know how the story continues.... And phew - not a bad cliffhanger at all!!!

This was such an emotional book...

Lots of scenes that made me and Dawson cry!!! ☺

Lots of verrry sexy scenes and very sexy phone-scenes ☺

But most of it was really absolutely emotional. Everything that happened - everything Matt did and all his mistakes and lies and secrets - it all comes back to haunt him in the end, and we suffer along with both of them. It was all so very moving and sad and there were some - or lots of moments where I wanted to slap or shake the hell out of our Night Owl!!! Grrrr - that man!! I was really scared where this was all going ...

BUT I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF THIS BOOK!!!!
And if you fell in love with Matt and Hannah in NIGHT OWL - you will love them even more now - even though you might spent a few moments hating on our poor troubled author ☺

LAST LiGHT was an amazingly moving and frustrating erotic Romance! I couldn't put it down!

And now please dear Author - hurry with book #3!!!!!!!

OK, I am back from holidays and finally catching up on my review writing!

Matthew, Matthew, Matthew what are we going to do with you?

I was over the moon to receive an advanced copy of Last Light, which made me finally pull my finger out and read Night Owl and why oh why did I ever wait!  I was hooked right from the beginning.

Last Light certainly did not start out how I thought it would be I was all  **minion whaaaat**  Matt and Hannahs story went in a completely different direction than I was expecting.

I was taken on one heck of a journey with this one. I have to say that as much as Matt did some douchey things in this installment of the trilogy, I couldn't help but fall more in love with him.  At the same time that I wanted to bitch slap the crap out of him.  Really, I just didnt know if I wanted to hug him or hang him at times!!

Come on girls, who doesnt love a guy who is a bit of an a**hole!! (at least in our book boyfriends anyway)

This time I connected more with Hannah. And there were times that what she was going through got me right in the feels.

I have become completely entranced with this series, and I NEEEEEED to get the last instalment right now!  Immediately!  This second! (are you getting the gist M Pierce?!?!)

Note: this does end on a bit of a cliffhanger
